I got my Meow Cosmetics makeup in that had a Munckin order for the Sleek Ocicat foundation plus a full size primer for oily skin. I bought some more samples also. One Siamese in Purrfect in Sleek and a Flawless Ocicat in Pampered and a Frisky Ocicat in Purrfect. I think I went to light with the Sleek because of my tanish skin. The Frisky works alot better.
I really like the Primer that Meow has for oily skin. It is a powder and seems to work alot better for me than the Cover FX primer. I wore it most of last evening with no real oily coming threw just enough to make me look good and give me a dewy look. Meow is having a sale for last days of summer. It goes to 9/30/15 here is there link Meow Cosmetics
Today it is raining which means humidity which is not my friend in house. Trying to keep makeup on with wet weather can be a challange at best for those with good skin. But for us with oily skin it is a major problem. Now we have Setting Sprays which seem to work real well. Loreal has one out that is getting some awesome reviews. I just bought it but have not yet had to try it. Might do that today.
In a future blog I will be talking about a herbal program that works real well on the inside to help clear your oily skin. So stay tuned. If you have questions please ask always willing to help out if I can.
Well, today’s post will be old information with some new. So far I am soso on the Cover FX. It is sorta of holding back oil and keeping me matt. But I am still blotting within a couple of hours. I have tried it with both my Meow foundation and my old Clinque with same result. Next will be to put it on heavier and put powder on top before foundation. If that does not work it will be a loss.
Now I was around when Retinol A came out. I was a preteen then and I remember the whole big thrill about it. Guess what I hated that stuff. I was made to take a pill and put it on my face. It did not work for me and meds upset my stomach. Stuff is just plain nasty feeling oil based that made me fill sick to put it on my skin. I am sure it was not oil based but it felt like it. My problem was not external and here is a hint Most acne is NOT external but it is internal and hormonal. I also went to a Dermatologist and was put on antibiotics. Funny thing was it was not the Dermatologist that put me on the Retinol A but another doctor. The antibiotics worked well but never stopped the oil production. Dermatologist wanted me to do a face peel, which I never did because I was in school and in sun every day. When you do a face peel you must stay out of sun. Now if you have bad acne going to a Dermatologist is the way to go. Using the stuff over the counter is really no real help in the long run and much more costly.
I did the whole Clinque skin treatment thing along with their makeup. There skin program is good in that you get into a routine and it works to a point for that reason. But what I know now is that all the chemicals in the world only go so far and then stop working BECAUSE they are Chemicals. If you want a GREAT skin cleaner not harsh get handmade soap.
Us soap makers make soap for our skin for a reason. One is works way better than anything store bought because it has less stuff in it like detergents and preservatives and more stuff than I can name. Store bought soap does not have to list ingredients so you do not know what is in them unless you do some hard research. Handmade homemade soap will list ingredients and most have about 4 and that is it. Mine does besides the goat milk. Yes, I do sell it but no this is not an add for it. But if you want to try it just ask. Now there are a few different types of handmade soap and depending on your skin will make a alot of difference on which you want to buy.
When I first started looking into handmade soap I bought from a few different people. Found out real fast not all soap is made the same and not all ingredients work for me. For those of us with oil skin Coconut oil is our friend, Olive oil is not our friend. I have bought the all veggi oil soaps from different people. For me and my skin they are the worst thing. Not too mention my bath tub since the melt fast. Now here is a fact not many know unless you are into soap. ALL soaps on the market but one have animals oils in them. That one is Castile which is Olive oil only based. One reason store bought last the way it does is because of those animal oils. But here is another little fact. Pig skin and our is about as close as it comes and their fat ( know it sounds icky but it is not) is just perfect for us in soap. Do to the fact of that closeness it makes the best soap for over active oil production skin for it does not clog our pores like Olive oil does. It also makes one super hard bar of soap. But most of the time it is one of 4 or more ingredients which is great. I wish I new this when I was a kid. It could have saved me so much money and hassle.
One thing also you should know. Flawless makeup is not our friend either. Reason is it clogs pores real bad. Yes it covers up all our acne and scaring but it will also cause more to come. Which is why cleaning skin is so important and one reason I never wore alot of makeup growing up and threw life. I wore it in the corporate world but everyday life no not unless I was going out to dinner.
Now scrubs and masks are our major friends and a must. I do both most of the time I scrub first then put a mask on for deep clean. But I do Not do this every day. Maybe 3 times a week at most more 2 times a week or less. You can over do it. But if you have scarring then scrub is your friend for it can lessen the scars. Toner is a big help too there. Which as I said the Clinque system works good but I think you can do better by piecemealing your system together. What I do now is my own homemade soap, coconut goat milk lotion, Mint Julep scrub and mask. Love this stuff It is called Queen Helene Mint Julep Scrub and then there is one made for Mask. It has been around a while but I have only been using it a short time. If you have a problem with mint try Almond or Oatmeal based products.
I went into our local Merle Norman Salon. Never walked into one before it was interesting. I had no makeup on as i was thinking heading up to Sephora in another county. We do not have one near us in our small town. Anyway, it was as I said an interesting visit. Lady on first look at me nailed my skin tone as olive. I mentioned I was oily she thought I was much younger than I am and started to talk about oily skin keeping you young. Told her my age and it turns out I was older than her. LOL She thought I was at least 15 years young than her. Well, she matched me up to my neck. Not a bad match but not sure it is the closest I have had either.
You have to remember one thing even though I am olive I have a blue undertone with no pink whats so ever. But I also have high blood pressure so that tends to come threw. She even mention I had no pink to me and put me in their Alabaster Beige. Not bad match but it shows a bit dark on me. Then again my face is tan and neck is not at all. Makes blending it in a real PITA. I have to take my foundation way down because of that problem.
So now I am seeing if their lasting formula really works well with the powder. It is staying mostly matt just a bit of oil coming threw. Nothing like the Loreal True Match mineral foundation. It is staying well too not melting as of yet which is nice. It’s 3:45 pm and I got this put on around 11;15 am. Usually by now True Match is an oily slick on my face. This is better than my old Clinque, which Clinque does not carry anymore which is why I am looking for new foundation. I can not compare it yet to Meow Cosmetics since I am waiting on a full size of that yet with more samples. BTW I have no idea what the price is for this foundation did not ask since I was not buying it just trying it out. But I did by a blush of the Lasting Cheekcolor and it was a whopping $17.00. But if I remember right that is close to what I paid for my Clinque too.
Merle Norman has an interesting history. I suggest you look it up and read it. She started by making her own makeup that she franchised later on. I will go back and see if I can get just a tad shade lighter see if that works provided it doesn’t get more oily. Right now I am please with it and how it is control my oily skin.
What a beautiful day this first day of fall. I just recieved my order from Beautylish. My Cover FX and my Bioderma Sebium H20 is now here. These are both new products for me. The Cover FX is a Matte Primer and the Bioderma is a makeup remover. I usually just use a damp to wet washcloth to remove makeup but I found problems with eyeliner and mascara not coming off. So hopefully this works for my eyes well.
Beautylish is a phone App all. They also sell products and have message boards. When you sign up they give you a $10.00 off to place an order within 48 hours of signup. Well, worth that to me. 🙂 The boards are a good read also. I have done a little posting but I am new to it too so. name on it is Tamara B.
I just got notice this morning that my new Meow Cosmetics order has been processed. If you do not know about this company please check them out. They are handmade Mineral cosmetics. Meow has the biggest foundation shade selection of any. Meow Cosmetics I really like them for my skin. They have a primer just for oily skin. Those of us with olive skin Meow has a whole line of olive based foundation called Ocicat. It works for me.
OK one reason I am now into Mineral makeup is because it has less garbage in it that cream and liquid foundations. This means it will not cause as much acne and in most cases will cause no acne. It has been know to clear up skin for those that switch to it. Having been threw the whole gambit of type of foundation I am now working with this type. More latter.
If you have read my about me you know what this is all about and why. If you have not shame on you read it LOL. Some things I did not mention but will put in that later is where I am location and where I grew up. So here is a bit more about me.
I grew up in South Florida on an island in Dade County called Key Biscayne. I did not leave Florida till I was 37. At which I moved up the coast in a series of hops from South Caroline to Pennsylvania and down to Tennessee where we now live. But this is not about my life experiences with moving.
So now on to what this is about my skin. I am light olive with a blue base and oily as all get out. Hair is dark brown and so are my eyes. I am now 51 years old as of July 31. My journey with my over active oily skin began when I was 12. So needless to say I have years of experience.
I will slowly be documenting all my trials and treatments with my skin. What worked then and what works now. One thing of note we run a small farm so time on this project I hope will be daily but might not. I will have links to everything mentioned if I can but some might be so old that they no longer are around.
At present I am up dating my makeup. For years I have used Clinque which worked well. But I am finding that humidity is more of an issue here and my old makeup is running out. So I will be listing products test trying to find that perfect match for my oily skin. Stay tuned I have a join button so you will know when I update this blog.
